Do something good. Learn something new. Make a difference.
As part of the SNG #iwill Fund, we want to help young people to take action in their communities, and start their youth social action (YSA) journeys.
To support this, we’re launching a YSA microgrant called ‘Summer of Change’.
What is the Summer of Change?
Summer of Change supports young people aged 10-20 to lead their own youth social action projects over the summer.
Youth social action means taking positive action to help other people, your community, or the environment, while also helping you build skills, confidence, and experience.
Is there something affecting you, your friends, or your local area that you’d like to improve?
Whether your idea is big and bold or small but meaningful, this is your chance to make a change this summer, and show the power of youth.
Applications to this fund need to have projects that are designed and led by young people who live in SNG Communities (see FAQ below).
You don’t need experience or to be an expert - if your idea helps others or nature, and helps you grow, this fund is for you!
Choose from one of our three themes:
Helping people and spreading kindness
Projects that support others, bring people together, or spread kindness in your community.
Your project could:
- Help people feel supported or included
- Bring different groups or generations together
- Spread positivity in simple but meaningful ways
Example ideas:
- Running activities at a care home
- Organising a kindness challenge or event
- Making support packages or raising money for a cause
- Projects that reduce loneliness or brighten someone’s day
Improving your community
Projects that take action on something local - improving spaces, fixing problems, or creating something positive where you live.
Your project could:
- Make your area better or safer
- Bring people together around a shared idea
- Raise awareness about a local issue
Example ideas:
- Improving a park, youth space, or shared area
- Organising a community event or activity
- Creating a mural, display, or campaign
Protecting the environment and nature
Projects that care for the environment and protect nature and green spaces.

- Improve or protect outdoor spaces
- Help nature and wildlife thrive
- Encourage people to look after the planet

- Litter picks or recycling projects

Funding will be provided via vouchers.
After your project, if you complete a short survey and share a few photos of your project in action, each member of the project team will receive a £5 Amazon voucher as a thank you.

SNG (Sovereign Network Group) was formed in October 2023 through the merger of Sovereign and Network Homes.
We provide over 84,000 homes and invest in communities across London and the South of England, as well as aiming to create thousands of new affordable places for people to live every year.
Our purpose is to provide quality affordable homes and places, that people love for generations.
Everything we earn, we invest so that our customers - now and in the future - have a sustainable home that they love, in a thriving community.
We’re more than bricks and mortar, our social purpose is central to what we do. We want to deliver more for our customers and invest in the communities where we have homes.
Working in partnership is crucial to all we endeavour to achieve. Building long term alliances with community organisations, stakeholders and businesses who share our aspirations is key to helping us increase our social impact.
The SNG #iwill Fund aims to create opportunities for youth social action and a platform for youth voice. Investing over £1 million in giving young people a voice in their communities and futures.
The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to an £89 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
(DCMS) to support young people to access high-quality social action opportunities.
SNG is acting as an #iwill Fund match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund through the SNG #iwill Fund.
