Our purpose, vision and values

SNG’s purpose is to provide good, affordable homes: the foundation for a better life.  

As a charitable organisation, our social purpose underpins everything we do. Any profits are reinvested into building more high-quality homes and providing better services for our customers and local communities.   

We are also setting up the SNG Community Foundation, which will be registered with the Charity Commission, to build on our existing support offers and access new sources of funding to enable us to make even more of a difference to the quality of people’s lives. 

Our vision is to help create thriving communities, over generations. 

Over the next five years we will deliver a step change in our customers’ experience so that it is the best of any social housing provider into, throughout, and beyond the 2030s.

We've identified three areas that build on each other to have the greatest impact on customer experience over that period: 

  • Homes and Place – raising the overall standard of our homes using our Homes and Place Standard.
  • Proactive maintenance – using data and the latest technology to try to prevent issues before they arise and fixing them faster if they do.
  • End-to-end digitalised experience – simple, connected digital services for our customers and so that our people have the digital tools to deliver a service that minimises the time customers have to think about us: so they can get on with their lives.
