New Skills 4 Work partnership aims to boost career prospects for Basingstoke and Deane residents
We've joined forces with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to support residents into finding work and improving their career prospects.
Called Skills 4 Work, the programme is open to all residents in the borough, including non-SNG customers, who are aged 16 and over, not in any paid employment and have the right to work in the UK. We'll be offering participants 1-2-1 support and coaching, training and work grants, support with CV writing, job search and interview skills and much more.
Skills 4 Work is being funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund. The latest programme builds on successful Skills 4 Work partnerships on the Isle of Wight and other parts of Hampshire. So far we’ve helped over 400 people on their journeys towards employment, with over 60% of those securing jobs sustaining employment for over six months.
Erica Watts, SNG’s Head of Employment and Skills at SNG, commented: “We’re pleased to working with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to deliver these opportunities to residents in the borough. Skills 4 Work already has a successful track record and by opening this programme up to all residents, we’re showing SNG is truly committed to supporting thriving communities in the areas where we work.”
Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Cllr Paul Harvey, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Sovereign Network Group on the delivery of the Skills 4 Work programme across the borough.
“This initiative will provide tailored support and practical training to help people build their confidence, develop new skills and take positive steps towards employment. This new programme is part of our wider work to ensure that everyone has access to opportunities that can improve their career prospects for the future as well as their wellbeing.”
