Using digital devices and the internet is now an essential aspect of everyday life, but accessing these important online services requires skills and digital tools that not everyone has. We’ve launched a new Digital Inclusion Fund to help SNG customers and communities gain the skills, confidence and access they may need to fully benefit from online opportunities and services. Grants of between £300 and £1,000 are available for local groups supporting SNG customers to get online and learn and develop their digital skills.
This grant is part of our wider mission of ensuring more customers can benefit from the opportunities technology provides, helping them gain digital skills, confidently use online services, and make the most of tools that make life easier. In the past 12 months, we’ve helped 1,257 customers to grow their online skills through our digital inclusion service, and this funding aims to reach even more customers in all the areas we work in. You can click here to find out more about the support we currently offer customers with getting online.
We encourage applications from projects that improve digital access, skills, and connectivity - through group sessions or one-to-one support - helping people get online and stay connected. This fund aims to improve confidence, skills and connectivity in our communities. Examples of the types of projects we might fund are digital skills workshops, 1:1 digital support drop-in sessions or training for community digital support volunteers.
To apply, organisations must work within clearly defined SNG communities where we have homes, ensuring your activity directly benefits our customers. You should show how you will actively engage local residents and create positive impact at a neighbourhood/local level.
"Being online is no longer a luxury. It's often the gateway to employment, education, healthcare and everyday services. Yet many people still lack the confidence, skills or support needed to make the most of digital technology. We know that local community organisations are often best placed to provide practical, trusted support. Through this fund, we're helping those organisations reach more people and ensure that no one is left behind as more aspects of life move online."
