We’re committed to improving customers’ wellbeing and supporting communities to become thriving resilient spaces for all. We’ve created a Family Learning Fund to provide grants for community groups that deliver projects and initiatives supporting families in SNG communities to learn new skills, develop stronger bonds and thrive! This fund has grants of up to £1,000 available.
If your community group provides opportunities for the whole family, enabling both adults and children to learn something new, we encourage you to apply! Applications must be made by Friday 31 July 2026.
What are the priorities for the fund?
We encourage applications for projects that bring families together to learn new skills. Examples are activities such as cooking, numeracy, literacy, creative, or life skills based classes and any projects designed to improve confidence and skills.

Is my project in an SNG Community?
To be eligible, your project must take place in a community where we have homes and whose work will directly benefit SNG customers and you must be able to demonstrate how you will engage with and benefit SNG customers.

Budget- what can be funded and what detail should I include?
We encourage Family Learning Fund applications for projects that bring families together to learn new skills. If your community group provides opportunities for the whole family, enabling both adults and children to learn something new, we encourage you to apply! Examples are activities such as cooking, numeracy, literacy, creative, or life skills based classes and any projects designed to improve confidence and skills. Grants of up to £1,000 are available.
Please note:
- We will fund equipment, and other costs needed to directly deliver the Family Learning activities. Staff costs may be included where they are directly attributable to the delivery of the activity. Refreshments can be included.
- Equipment/Capital costs can be up to 50% of the funding applied for i.e. a maximum of £500.
- Unfortunately, we cannot fund core costs (for example, rent and utilities).
Please include as much detail as possible in your budget.
Good practice:
10 × 2-hour sessions (20 hours of youth worker delivery time) – 20 × £25 per hour: £500
Here we can see the number of sessions, how long each session lasts and the breakdown of staff time.
Poor practice:
Workshops: £500
Here we have no detail on the number of sessions, the length of sessions, or what the costs are for.
Making a grant decision
This is an open application programme
The fund will be open from 29 June 2026, and close on 31 July 2026.
We will aim to share funding decisions by 4 September 2026.
If you are offered funding, it takes an average of two weeks to complete due diligence and transfer funds. Please monitor your emails (including your junk folder) for updates from ActionFunder. The sooner you accept the offer and provide the requested information; the sooner funding can be released.
Reporting requirements
If your application is successful and you receive funding, you will be required to meet our reporting requirements. You will be asked to complete a light-touch end-of-project report.
You will be notified of reporting requirements through the ActionFunder platform when funding is awarded.
We would also welcome updates throughout the project via ActionFunder, including what has gone well and any challenges. You will be able to post comments, videos and photos to keep us updated.
