Introducing SNG’s ‘Make it Happen’ fund, designed to support customer-led activities across our schemes.
This microgrant scheme aims to empower Housing for Older People customers aged 55+ to design and run their own community activities.
Our aims
We want to:
- Empower customers to lead and make decisions within their schemes
- Reduce isolation and loneliness among older people
- Build stronger communities, connection and mutual support
- Support sustainable, ongoing activities created by customers
Funding available
You can apply for £50 to £200 to support your idea.
Please note that funding is provided as digital vouchers (If you need help accessing these vouchers, please email community.investment@sng.org.uk).
Vouchers will be redeemable for: Aldi, Argos, Amazon, Asda, B&Q, Morrisons, Tesco or Sainsburys.
Application information:
- Applications open: Monday 22 June 2026
- Applications close: Monday 27 July 2026
You can apply yourself, or with support from your scheme officer.
Please note, only one project per scheme will be funded.

What we’re looking for
Applications should show how your project will:
- Offer activities that run regularly or over a longer period of time
- Bring people together in an inclusive and welcoming way
- Support health and wellbeing
- Be shaped by your ideas and led by you
- Have the support of your scheme officer or manager
Ideas to inspire you
Not sure what to apply for? Here are some examples:
- Coffee mornings, afternoon teas or shared meals
- Arts and crafts activities
- Bingo, board games, books or puzzles
- Film nights or games evenings
- Storytelling or reminiscence groups
- Exercise or wellbeing activities
Things to know before you apply
One award per scheme per year.
Activities should be running and funds should be spent by 1 December 2026.
Receipts must be provided after spending your fund voucher and sent to the Community Investment email address Community.Investment@sovereign.org.uk
Vouchers can’t be used for:
- Alcohol
- Tobacco or vaping products
- Gambling (such as scratch cards or lottery tickets)
We’re unable to fund:
- Political or religious activities
- One-off individual events
