Are you passionate about your community?
Would you like to use your skills, knowledge, and experience to shape decisions about your homes, services and communities?
At SNG we’re committed to ensuring that the voice of our customers is heard at all levels of our organisation. That’s why we’re looking for people across our geography who can provide a customer perspective at Board level.
You don’t need prior Board experience, but we’re looking for someone who is familiar with taking on similar responsibilities, can share their knowledge, and use their skills and experience to help us shape SNG’s future and succeed in achieving our goals.
The Board currently has 10 members, each offering various skills and experience and we’re looking to ensure that our customers are well represented on the Board by having up to two SNG residents on the Board representing the localities where our customers live.
- As a resident board member, you'll be a non-executive director. You'll have the same legal responsibilities as your fellow Board members.
- This is a part-time role, and you’ll need to commit around two days a month to attend board meetings and other events.
- This is a paid role with an annual salary of £24,000 and we’ll help with necessary expenses.
- Successful candidates will have had some experience in taking on similar responsibilities, but you’ll be given training and ongoing support to help you succeed in the role.
You’ll also need to:
- be able to communicate effectively and constructively and interpret a variety of information, some of it financial.
- develop effective working relationships with your fellow Board members and the executive.
We'll provide a tailored training and induction programme for the successful candidate.
Before applying, please check your eligibility:
- you must be over 18
- you must be an SNG social housing resident named on the tenancy agreement or a shared owner.
- you must not be in arrears or in breach of any aspects of your tenancy with us.
Please note that successful applicants will be subject to our usual onboarding processes and reference checks.
