Abingdon Carousel Family Centre: connecting families

Abingdon Carousel Family Centre is a friendly space for families with young children in South Abingdon. With funding from SNG, the centre offers free activities, advice and practical help. It helps families meet others and find help close to home.

The centre is much more than a place to play. Families can take part in activities, join parenting programmes and access health and specialist services for children with additional needs.

Helping families find the right help

For many families, a Stay & Play session is their first visit.

Children can enjoy creative activities, sensory play, books, songs and outdoor play. These activities help them learn new skills, build confidence and have fun.

Parents and carers can meet other families, share experiences and learn about local activities and organisations.

Many families say the centre has helped them feel less alone and more connected to their community. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and can point families towards advice and help when they need it.

Bringing help closer to home

SNG's support began with funding for the centre's Friday Stay & Play sessions and has since grown into a three-year partnership, helping Abingdon Carousel expand its support for local families.

Funding has enabled six partner organisations to deliver services from the centre, making it easier for families to access advice, activities and specialist support in one trusted location. This joined-up approach helps families get the right help at the right time.

A place families can rely on

Every week, families come through the doors of Abingdon Carousel to play, learn, meet others and find help. The centre has become a valued part of community life, helping children get the best start in life and giving families a place where they feel welcome.
