Tackling tenancy fraud to protect our homes
Everyone deserves to feel safe and treated fairly in their home. When a property is misused, it can affect not just one household, but the wider community too.
At The Warehouse in Slough, it was discovered that a home was being used for short‑term letting through Airbnb, which is a form of tenancy fraud. Making sure our homes are let fairly to people who need them is a priority for us, and we take any unlawful occupation seriously.
Our teams took action to stop the misuse of the property and followed the legal process to put things right. After a thorough case was presented, the court granted possession of the property and made an unlawful profit order. This means the home can no longer be used for short‑term letting.
We’re pleased to say the property has now been returned and can be used as intended, helping bring greater stability back to the building and fairness for residents.
This outcome sends a clear message that we will act when our homes are misused. It also shows our commitment to standing up for residents and helping people feel safe and secure where they live.
We will continue to protect our homes and communities by taking firm and proportionate action where needed, so that neighbourhoods remain places people feel confident calling home.
