Southampton City Council appoints SNG to deliver additional affordable homes at Townhill Park
Southampton City Council has appointed SNG to deliver additional family affordable homes at Townhill Park in the city.
These much-needed homes will be built on Plot 10 at Copse Road and Longmead Road. We’ll develop family housing on this site, complementing the homes previously awarded at nearby Rowlands Walk.
We had already secured Plot 2 (bounded by Meggeson Avenue, Townhill Way, Paulet Close and Cutbush Lane) and Plot 9 (Rowlands Walk). Another housing provider, Abri, is progressing proposals for new homes on Plots 5 and 6.
This latest agreement between Southampton City Council and SNG means that new homes are now planned across five plots at Townhill Park, helping to meet the growing demand for housing in the city.
Jenny Grote, SNG’s Land and New Business Director – South, commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Southampton City Council to deliver much-needed, high-quality family homes for people who need them most in the city. We know demand for affordable housing in Southampton remains high, and the city continues to be a key priority area for SNG as we develop new homes.”
Councillor Sally Goodfellow, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “This is fantastic and welcome news for residents of Townhill Park. It has been a long process for local people and whilst there is still some time to go, we are excited to be working with SNG and getting on with delivering these much-needed family homes.”
