Invitation to apply for first low carbon role as SNG launches apprenticeship drive

We're proud to relaunch our apprenticeship programme which will develop local talent and support our ongoing programme of housing maintenance.

As part of the latest apprenticeship drive, SNG is offering several roles and opportunities in plumbing and domestic heating, electrical work and carpentry across our localities – with the very first low carbon heating engineer apprentice vacancy also being announced.

This new role reflects the association’s commitment to make all its homes Net Zero by 2050 with expenditure on its portfolio of new and existing homes forecast to reach £9 billion over the next decade.  By championing the next generation of industry talent, we're actively driving the transition to sustainable heating solutions by installing and retrofitting homes with technologies which include air source heat pumps to provide cleaner sources of heating.

The new low carbon heating apprenticeship and additional vacancies come at a time when the unemployment rate in the UK has hit a near four-year high, and a shortage of tradespeople remains up and down the country.

Those who are successful with their application will benefit from an apprenticeship programme which provides on-the-job training, a range of practical experience, plus an industry-recognised qualification, all while earning a wage.

A spokesperson for SNG said: “Being one of the largest housing associations in the country means we’re in a prime position to offer fantastic opportunities like this to more people who are seeking a fulfilling career path and looking to ‘earn and learn’.

“There are several benefits here as we invest not only in strengthening our workforce, but in our maintenance programme too. This is all part of us making sure that we hire for the roles needed to help us carry out repairs, improve the customer experience and continue to bring more homes up to the standards of comfort we want for our customers.

“If you have a keen interest in learning and are seeking a fulfilling career at an organisation which values diversity, please apply today!”

We will be engaging with local providers of apprenticeships, including colleges and other educational establishments over the coming months to help them fulfil and deliver these roles.

Please note applications are now closed for this latest apprenticeship role.
