Up to £1,000 available to help families learn new skills and thrive together

Community groups are being invited to apply for funding from a new grant programme designed to support families to learn, grow and build stronger connections.

The Family Learning Fund, launched by SNG, one of England’s largest housing associations, offers grants of between £300 and £1,000 to organisations delivering projects that bring families together to learn new skills in SNG communities. The fund is part of SNG’s ongoing commitment to improving customer wellbeing and helping communities become thriving, resilient places for everyone.

The programme is open to not-for-profit organisations, with a focus on initiatives that enable both adults and children to take part together in developing new skills or building on existing ones. Activities could include anything from cooking and creative workshops to literacy, numeracy or life skills sessions, with all projects aimed at supporting learning, boosting confidence, strengthening relationships and creating lasting local impact.

Organisations applying must demonstrate how they will deliver benefits at a neighbourhood level. A wide range of groups are eligible, including charities, community organisations, social enterprises and voluntary groups, provided they have appropriate governance in place.

Applications open from today and close on Friday 31 July 2026, with funding decisions expected in early September.

Erica Watts, Head of Employment, Skills and Inclusion at SNG, said:

“We’re proud to launch the Family Learning Fund to support projects that help families learn and grow together. By creating opportunities for shared learning, we can strengthen confidence, build relationships and support communities to thrive.

“We’re particularly keen to hear from organisations who are already making a positive difference locally and can help us reach more families.”

Applications must be submitted via ActionFunder. Groups can create a project and apply through the platform by visiting: ActionFunder - Make Change Happen Opens in new window.
