Grants of up to £1,000 available to power volunteer-led community action
The SNG Community Foundation has launched its Community in Action Fund, offering grants of up to £1,000 to support local organisations delivering volunteer-led activities this summer.
Aligned with the national Big Help Out campaign, the fund is designed to bring people together through practical, hands-on projects that foster community pride, strengthen local connections and encourage residents to make a positive difference where they live.
The Community in Action Fund will support small-scale, community-led initiatives that promote volunteering and create a lasting local impact. Projects should take place within SNG communities and benefit both SNG customers and the wider public.
Groups are encouraged to apply for projects that bring people together, improve the local environment, engage young people and promote neighbourhood pride. This could include activities such as community clean-ups, litter picking, DIY improvement projects, planting schemes and other initiatives that strengthen community connections.
The fund is open to a range* of locally based, not-for-profit organisations, with grants of between £300 and £1,000 available to cover project costs such as materials, equipment and delivery expenses. Applications are open from today, with a closing deadline of 22 June 2026. Applications must be submitted via the ActionFunder platform, where organisations can create a project and apply directly to the SNG Community in Action Fund.
Marta Rios, Community Investment and Partnerships Manager at SNG, said: “We know that the best ideas for strengthening communities come from residents themselves. Through the SNG Community in Action Fund, we want to celebrate the people already making a difference while supporting more residents to take action, build connections, and make a positive difference in the things that matter most to them and their communities.”
“By supporting volunteer-led projects, we’re helping to build stronger, more connected communities building on the momentum of the Big Help Out”.
