Green light for 48 affordable homes in Oxfordshire

We're set to deliver 48 affordable homes in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, in partnership with The Hill Group, which has secured planning permission for 96 homes.

SNG's allocation includes a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as two to four‑bedroom houses. Of these, 19 homes will be for Affordable Rent and 15 for Social Rent, available to people on Cherwell District Council’s housing register. The remaining 14 homes will be for Shared Ownership, offering an affordable way to get on the housing ladder.

The development forms part of a wider strategic allocation that will deliver 430 homes in total. It is the result of nearly seven years of planning and collaboration and will also provide a range of community benefits. These include the creation of formal and informal sports and play areas, as well as the gifting of half a hectare of land to the parish council to enable the extension of the local cemetery.

With Kidlington recently awarded town status, the development will play a key role in supporting its growth by providing both new homes and essential infrastructure. Construction is expected to begin shortly, with the first homes anticipated in 2027.

Jenny Grote, SNG’s Land and New Business Director – South, said: “We have an extremely positive and long-standing relationship with The Hill Group, and are delighted to be working together once again to bring forward a range of high-quality much-needed affordable homes in Kidlington that will make a real difference to local people.”
