Joe Marshall appointed Chief Investment and Development Officer as SNG confirms Executive Board succession plans
Leadership continuity as Sally Hyndman prepares to retire and Alexia Evans is named her successor
We’ve confirmed the appointment of Joe Marshall as Chief Investment and Development Officer, following his successful period holding the role on an interim basis since May 2025.
Joe brings extensive leadership experience from across the housing development sector. Since joining SNG two years ago, he has successfully led the growth of our Southern region, driving major regeneration and development projects and strengthening local partnerships. Before joining SNG, Joe held senior roles at Peabody, overseeing large-scale housing and regeneration programmes across London and the South East.
As Chief Investment and Development Officer, Joe will lead the delivery of our ambitious programme to build 25,000 new homes over the next 10 years. He will also oversee our sector-leading approach to strategic asset management, incorporating large-scale retrofit and regeneration activity that will ensure all homes meet SNG’s Homes and Place Standard.
Alongside Joe’s appointment, we confirm that Chief People and Transformation Officer, Sally Hyndman, will retire at the end of June 2026 after five years with the organisation. To support a smooth transition, Alexia Evans, currently Investment and Asset Strategy Director and a member of the Executive Board, will work alongside Sally from April 2026 before taking up the Chief People and Transformation Officer role following Sally’s retirement.
Alexia has extensive experience in change, transformation and strategic asset management. She has played a key role in our investment and development strategy, leading the SNG’s approach to asset management, sustainability and sales.
Mark Washer, Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “I’m delighted to confirm Joe’s appointment as Chief Investment and Development Officer. He has already made a significant impact as part of our senior leadership team and in the last few months in this role on an interim basis. Joe’s operational insight, sector experience and commitment to quality housing make him ideally placed to lead one of the most ambitious investment programmes in the sector.
“Sally has been instrumental in helping to define who we are as an organisation, leading our people and transformation journey with vision, compassion and integrity. While we’ll be very sorry to see her retire, I’m pleased that Alexia will be stepping into the role. She brings deep experience in change and transformation and will build on the strong foundation Sally has created.”
Joe Marshall, Chief Investment and Development Officer, said: “I’m proud to take on this role at such an important time for housing delivery. We have ambitious plans to create high-quality homes and thriving
communities, and I’m looking forward to continuing the great work of our teams across investment, regeneration and development.”
Sally Hyndman, Chief People and Transformation Officer, said: “It’s been a privilege to help shape SNG’s transformation and culture over the past five years. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and confident that Alexia will continue to drive our people and transformation agenda forward.”
Alexia Evans, Investment and Asset Strategy Director, said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this role and to have the opportunity to build on the incredible work Sally has led. Our people and transformation strategy is at the heart of SNG’s success, and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the organisation to continue that journey.”
