Police and SNG secure Closure Order for Exeter property
A property in Exeter which had become a hotspot for crime and anti-social behaviour has been secured following a Closure Order obtained by Devon and Cornwall Police with the support of SNG.
The order, granted by the courts, means the current occupant and their associates are no longer permitted to access the flat at Ashmore Court, Haven Road. Security measures have been put in place to prevent unauthorised entry, and we're now taking steps to regain possession of the property and permanently evict the tenant.
The case was strengthened by SNG colleagues attendance at Court, where they provided evidence and responded to cross-examination conducted directly by the perpetrator. Witness testimonies from customers, together with evidence we presented, were instrumental in securing the Order.
Once the legal process is complete, the one bedroom flat could be re-let to someone on Exeter City Council’s housing register, helping to provide a much-needed affordable home for residents in the city.
The action highlights our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour, protecting local communities and ensuring customers can live in safe and secure neighbourhoods.
