Residents invited to help shape the future of Pinkerton Road
Local residents are being invited to take part in a series of community events to help shape early proposals for the future of the Pinkerton Road area in Buckskin and South Ham, where redevelopment is proposed for 109 properties consisting mainly of flats and bedsits.
SHP (Sovereign Hill Partnership) is hosting two public exhibitions at St Peter’s Church, giving people the opportunity to find out more about the early ideas, ask questions, and share their views.
These events mark an important step in ongoing conversations with the community and build on feedback gathered over recent months, including work with local residents through co-design, discussions with Pinkerton Road allotment holders to understand their views and any concerns about the area’s future, and engagement with pupils from Park View Primary School, who have helped explore ideas to improve journeys the school through play along Pinkerton Road.
Polly Gardner, Director of Regeneration and Major Projects at SNG said; "This is an important opportunity for residents to help shape the future of the Pinkerton Road area and ensure that any plans reflect the needs and aspirations of the people who live here.
"We want to create high-quality homes and neighbourhoods that are sustainable, welcoming and provide opportunities for current and future generations. The ideas being explored have been shaped by conversations with residents and the local community, and these events are another important step in that ongoing dialogue.
"We're committed to putting residents at the heart of the process and encourage everyone to come along, share their views and help us develop a shared vision for the future of Buckskin and South Ham."
High-quality homes and greener neighbourhoods
Early ideas being explored include delivering high-quality homes, that are energy efficient, climate resilient and affordable to live in, homes residents can feel proud to call their own.
Alongside this, proposals will look at how to create stronger, greener neighbourhoods, with safer, well connected streets and improved public spaces that support health, wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
Putting residents at the heart
Our approach is firmly resident-focused and responsive - ensuring that homes, services and spaces meet the needs of the people who live there.
This includes ongoing co-design opportunities, as well as the work of a dedicated Resident Led Group, made up of local people helping to shape plans, challenge thinking and ensure community priorities remain front and centre as proposals develop.
Together, this supports stronger, more empowered communities where residents can actively
shape their neighbourhoods and their future.
The organisation is committed to delivering better customer experiences through high-quality homes and services. Success will be measured not just by what is built, but by how residents experience living in the area every day - creating places where people feel heard, valued and supported.
