Scouts pose in front of Welwyn hoarding

Scouts in Welwyn Garden City showcase creativity in SNG hoarding project

We’ve partnered with a local Scout group in Welwyn Garden City to bring some artistic flare to one of our latest developments. Young participants from the Beavers and Cubs at 6th Welwyn Garden City Scouts put their creativity to the test, with each Scout tasked with producing an original design inspired by either a butterfly or a flower. Each submission has now been bought to life, displayed on the hoarding of our new 111 affordable homes development, for the local community to see.

Tracey Lewis, Group Lead Volunteer at 6th WGC Scout Group, comments: “Our Beavers and Cubs were thrilled to be asked to participate in this 'Community Project'. The theme of nature for this project is really appropriate for our young people as our Scout Hut has an allotment area and children are involved with planting and growing flowers and vegetables. Scouting is about being part of the community and what a fitting way to highlight our Scout Group to the local area.”

Kalumba Musambachime, Head of Sales (London) at SNG, comments: "A huge thank you to the 6th WGC Scouts who got involved and submitted a piece of art for our hoarding at Bloom. The children channelled the Scouts’ love of nature into designs centred around butterflies and flowers, and the result is a wonderful collection of colourful, characterful artwork that will bring the construction site to life for passers-by. Working with a local group such as the Scouts on this project pays tribute to Welwyn Garden City’s proud heritage, as well as the bright future taking shape at the development for those who will call it home."

Situated in the heart of Welwyn, and close to many amenities and brilliant transport connections, our Bloom development will consist of spacious and light one and two-bedroom apartments. All are for affordable tenures with 18 homes for Social Rent and 37 for Affordable Rent available to people from the local housing register. The remaining 56 homes will be for Shared Ownership offering an affordable route to home ownership. Funding towards the scheme was secured from Homes England.

Shared Ownership homes at Bloom is set to launch this summer.
