SNG joins The Hill Group in marking key milestone in the delivery of 56 affordable homes in Stevenage

SNG and The Hill Group have celebrated a key milestone in the construction of 56 affordable homes at Lytton Way in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Senior figures from the two organisations along with guests from Stevenage Borough Council gathered together on Wednesday 30 April to see the final beams installed at a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony.

The homes are part of a wider regeneration of a former office site which will provide 592 mixed tenure apartments over seven buildings. SNG’s allocation will all be for Affordable Rent and will be available to people on the borough’s housing register.

The one and two bedroom homes are located in a nine-story building designed by architects BPTW and are all designed in line with SNG’s groundbreaking Home and Place Standard. This ensures they will be of the very highest quality and a great place to live. Homes will all have either a balcony or terrace and residents will have access to communal green spaces and a children’s play area. The new occupants are likely to move in from August 2026.

Matt Bird, SNG Regional Managing Director (London and East), commented: “It’s fantastic to be joining The Hill Group in celebrating this key milestone of delivering affordable homes in Stevenage. We’re proud to be one of the most active developing housing associations in the UK with plans to deliver around 2,500 new homes a year.”

Cain Peters, Managing Director Special Projects of The Hill Group, said: “Reaching this milestone at Lytton Way is a proud moment for everyone involved in this transformative project.  Through close collaboration with SNG and Stevenage Borough Council, we are delivering much-needed affordable homes that will have a lasting impact on the local community.  Today’s topping out ceremony highlights our shared commitment to placemaking and sustainable regeneration, and I am confident the new residents will enjoy living in these thoughtfully designed homes.”
