SNG wins at the South West Energy Efficiency Awards
We’re pleased to have one ‘Large Scale Project of the Year’ at the South West Energy Efficiency Awards, recognising the successful delivery of our largest-ever retrofit programme funded through Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund: Wave 2.1.
The project focused on tackling some of our most challenging off‑gas‑grid homes. Existing heating systems were removed and replaced with new Air Source Heat Pumps, supported by solar PV, battery storage and a package of targeted fabric upgrades. This whole‑home approach has significantly improved energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and helped customers cut their energy bills.
Delivered across South West England, the programme has played a key role in driving SNG's progress towards decarbonising our portfolio and achieving net zero by 2050. The project exceeds the core aims of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund by delivering warmer, healthier homes, improving affordability and supporting local green skills.
Throughout delivery, Resident Liaison Officers and retrofit teams worked closely with customers to guide them through the process and ensure every property received a tailored set of measures. Many homes have now achieved EPC B or above, and residents are reporting improved comfort and affordability.
Each home now has a digital ‘passport’ recording the upgrades installed and enabling ongoing monitoring to track performance and identify any issues early. This data‑driven model is now shaping our future retrofit strategy across our the wider properties we manage.
At the ceremony, SNG was also awarded a commendation in the Regional Housing Association/Landlord of the Year category.
