Young people in Bristol come together to create positive change at half-term festival

We were proud to bring young people together at our Bristol Wellbeing and Social Action Festival in Bristol. This was a vibrant and inclusive event that promoted mental wellbeing, creativity, and community engagement among young people aged 10 to 20.

Held during half-term on Thursday 30 October at Admiral House in Manor Road, the festival featured a wide range of free activities and workshops, including:

  • Talk, Back and Sides - free haircuts for young people
  • Yoga sessions - to promote relaxation and mindfulness
  • Make-your-own wellbeing packs and stress balls
  • Wellbeing through music - with local group The Cause
  • Stalls from local organisations - offering support and resources

No booking was required – young people simply turned up and got involved.

The Wellbeing and Social Action Festivals are part of the our #iwill Fund, which aims to bring young people together to inspire action, break down mental health stigmas, and create positive change in their communities. They’re designed to create a space for networking, community connection, mental health and wellbeing awareness and employability and career support in communities where SNG operates. These festivals provide pathways to youth social action and volunteering while fostering connection and collaboration.

Eden-Marie Jolliffe, SNG's #iwill Programme Manager, said: “We’re proud to work alongside Young Bristol to celebrate wellbeing with young people and their families. This event is part of our commitment to wellbeing and youth social action within the thriving communities where we have homes. SNG is currently investing over £1million into our Wellbeing Champions Programme (WCP), to create youth social action opportunities and support young peoples’ mental health and wellbeing across our communities, amplifying youth voice and co-creating programmes that matter most to them.”

Launched in 2022, the SNG #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to a £66 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high-quality social action opportunities. SNG is acting as an #iwill Fund match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund through the SNG #iwill Fund.

For this event, SNG again teamed up with valued partner, Young Bristol, a leading youth charity that has supported young people aged 8–25 across the city since 1928.

Young people and organisations who are passionate about youth-led change can get involved in future festivals and social action projects through the SNG #iwill Fund. Whether you're a young changemaker or a community group looking to support youth wellbeing, there are many ways to take part. For more information, please visit our iWill webpage.
