Horndean customer’s garden recognised for vibrance and colour
A keen gardener from Horndean in Hampshire has been recognised for her horticultural skills in our annual In Bloom gardening competition. Deborah Taylor’s vibrant and colourful garden wowed our judges by coming first in the ‘Home Garden in Bloom’ category.
She gained the award by proving she had added beauty and variety to her garden, while also showcasing great gardening skills. She was awarded £200 in vouchers and a trophy for her win.
Deborah was among 139 submissions from gardeners and gardening groups who stood out from over 85,000 households across Southern England. SNG customers live in a variety of homes and the In Bloom competition offered prizes across four categories of gardens with indoor, outdoor and community gardens, and green spaces all in contention.
Deborah’s family are rightly proud of her gardening efforts. Her daughter Jade Smith, commented: “Being in your garden is great for your mental health and I hope that our garden will inspire other people to grow flowers no matter the size of your garden.”
Mark Washer, SNG’s CEO and In Bloom judge visited Deborah’s garden in Horndean to deliver her trophy and a certificate to Jade. He commented: “It's been a joy to meet some of our green fingered customers and see the fantastic gardens, plants and green spaces they have produced this year. Their commitment, in cases over many years, is fantastic, whether the spaces are large or small and is a huge part of making communities thrive over generations.”
