CGI of how residential area at Three Mile Cross may look

Work begins on 49 affordable homes in Berkshire

Construction work has begun on 49 affordable homes at our development in Three Mile Cross, near Reading in Berkshire.

The scheme will feature a mix of maisonettes and two, three and four‑bedroom houses. Of the new homes, 34 will be for social rent and available to people on Wokingham Borough Council’s housing register, with a further 15 homes for Shared Ownership.

The homes are being built by Feltham Construction, who were recently appointed to SNG’s Contractor Framework for Affordable Homes, on a greenfield site off Kingfisher Grove. All properties will meet our sector‑leading Homes and Places standard and will include a range of sustainable features, such as air source heat pumps, photovoltaic (PV) panels and electric vehicle (EV) chargers.

The first residents are expected to move into their new homes in Spring 2028.

SNG purchased the site in December 2023, with final approval for the scheme secured in July 2025. The development has been part‑funded by Homes England.

Jenny Grote, SNG’s Land and New Business Director – South, commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Feltham Construction to deliver high‑quality affordable housing for local people in Wokingham Borough. We know a good home transforms lives, which is why, despite challenging conditions, we’re pushing ahead with delivering 2,500 good homes per year across the South of England.”

Simon Lampard, Director at Feltham Construction, said: “We’re delighted to be a framework partner to SNG in delivering these fantastic new homes at Three Mile Cross. This project is one of three high-quality, sustainable developments we are proud to be delivering together.”
